Burgo makes signings as season approaches

With two more friendlies to be played, Northwood boss Mark Burgess is yet to make a decision as to whether to sign a number of the trialists that have been with the squad during pre-season. However, there are four who have already signed and joined the squad for the new campaign and they are Jon Munday, Max Holland, Sam Whiting and Louis Stead.

Former QPR youth player Jon Munday is a centre-back who had a year as a professional before playing for Hendon, Hayes, Kidderminster Harriers, Worcester City, Maidenhead United, Burnham and Beaconsfield Sycob. Max Holland has joined the Woods from Boreham Wood where he progressed from their youth set-up into their reserve side and scored plenty of goals last season; only 19, he hails from Jamaica but has played for England Schools.

Sam Whiting was a scholar with AFC Wimbledon and is a left-back though can also play on the wing. Now 20, Sam also played in Boreham Wood’s reserve side and had a couple of appearances for Harrow Borough last season. Attacking midfield player Louis Stead joined from Chalfont St Peter; the 23 year old has also played at Tring Athletic and North Greenford.

Players from last season’s squad who have moved on are Niko Muir, joining Ryman Premier side VCD Athletic and Dave Lawrence, who has signed for Potters Bar Town. Also, the trio of Nana Asamoah, Jordan Lawal and Ismael Ehui have not returned to the club for the new season at present.

"We still have work to do, but to achieve what we have in such a short space of time is beyond my wildest dreams. Once I have agreed the schedule of works with the contractor (subject to our fixtures, which will be released shortly) details will be provided on the club website".
