Phil Everett RIP

We are very sad to report that Phil Everett passed away this morning following a long and brave battle against cancer.

Phil was for years a true friend and a great supporter of Northwood FC, and always travelled by public transport to follow the team wherever they were playing. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Our sincere condolences go to Phil's family and friends; may he rest in peace.

Woods take the points despite Leighton fightback

After a blank day last weekend, the Woods returned to Calor League action this afternoon, and ran out 4-2 winners against Leighton Town at Northwood Park. That made it an incredible seventeen goals scored in Northwood's last two home games!!

Northwood raced into a three-goal interval lead, with George Nicholas, debutant Karl Oliyide and Niko Muir (penalty) all finding the net. But the home side were pushed back more after the break, and Leighton scored twice before Jon-Jo Bates hit a stunning strike from all of 35 yards spot on 93 minutes, to decide an entertaining encounter.

The match report and photos are here. The full colour matchday programme can still be ordered online from our publications section.

High-scoring friendly

Northwood played a high-scoring friendly away to Ryman Premier outfit Wealdstone last night, the home side narrowly coming out on top 5-4.

Dave Lawrence netted twice for Woods, with Michael Murphy and new signing Karl Oliyide also on the mark. The first half saw a good performance from Northwood, and the sides were tied at 3-3 at the interval. Seven changes were made at the break, and that had an effect of the quality of the visitors' play, but it was a useful workout against higher level opponents.

The Woods have been drawn away to Burnham in the second round of the Red Insure Southern League Cup; the tie will be played on Tuesday 19th November.

On Monday evening, the Woods' Under 18s came from behind to draw 1-1 at Metropolitan Police in the Second Round of the Lucas Fettes Cup, and then won the penalty shoot-out 4-3 to progress to the next round.

Veterans hit five as they start Cup defence

The Woods started their defence of the Isthmian Veterans Cup this evening with a first round trip to Waltham Abbey, and the Northwood side, under the management of former defender Craig McIntosh in the absence of Paul Watkins who is away on business, romped to a 5-0 victory.

Richard McDonagh gave Northwood a 20th minute lead and Gary Williams got the second on the half-hour to give the side a 2-0 interval lead.

McDonagh netted his second on 60 minutes, and first team boss Mark Burgess hit number four, before Dave Fox made it 5-0 with eleven minutes remaining. Full report is here.

Reserves draw as they take centre stage

With the senior side idle today due to their early exit from the FA Carlsberg Trophy, Northwood's second string took centre stage, and they drew 3-3 with Harefield United in a Suburban League North Division fixture at Chestnut Avenue.

Harry Smart made it four goals personally this week as he netted twice for Dave Fox's young side, whilst Aron Ruszel was also on target.

Niko trio knocks
Ashford Town out of cup

A hat-trick from Niko Muir moved Northwood comfortably into the second round of the Red Insure League Cup this evening, as they won at Ashford Town for the second time in three days.

Top scorer Niko added to his seasonal tally just 20 seconds into the second period, after young keeper Jake Knight had saved a first half Ashford penalty. Muir made it two on 67 minutes and although the home side pulled a goal back ten minutes later, Woods were awarded a spot-kick of their own a few minutes from the end. Muir's kick was saved, but he tapped home the rebound to complete his trio - and confirm Northwood's cup progress.

The match report is here.

Great comeback in Premier Cup

Northwood's young reserve side gained an excellent 4-2 win at Uxbridge this evening in the first round of the Middlesex Premier Cup.

Daxe Fox's side struggled in the first half half, and trailed 2-0 at the break. But a spirited fightback after the interval was rewarded by two goals from Harry Smart and one apiece for Josh Lambe and Luke Fox.

The  match report and photos are here. Woods will play at home in the second round to Southall's first team or Hanwell Town reserves.

3-0 win for Northwood at Ashford Town

The Woods ran out comfortable winners in this afternoon's game away to Ashford Town in a Calor League fixture, Mark Burgess's side taking the points with a 3-0 win - and they could have scored several more.

Craig White put Northwood ahead on 20 minutes, converting a Dave Lawrence cross, and Lawrence was also involved in the second goal. The striker was brought down by home keeper, denying a goalscoring opportunity; keeper McCarthy was dismissed, and Oliver Sprague curled the resulting free-kick into the net.

Woods added their third goal near the end of the game, Ryan Phillips crossing for Joakim Ehui to fire home. The match report and photos are here.

Second-placed Northwood reserves drew 0-0 with Suburban League leaders Royston Town at Chestnut Avenue today.

Woods go goal-crazy!!

Before last night, Northwood had scored only six Calor League goals all season, but now they have more than doubled that tally! The rampant Woods smashed eight past Chertsey last night, with an excellent  display of attacking football, running out 8-3 winners in a remarkable game.

The Woods never looked back after Steve Brown's header fired them into a 15th minute lead, and they led 5-1 at the break. Niko Muir led the way in the goalscoring stakes, the young striker grabbing a hat-trick, whilst Reece Grant, Dave Lawrence, Brown again and George Nicholas also scored.

FA Trophy knock-out for Woods

The Woods went out of the FA Carlsberg Trophy at the first hurdle yesterday afternoon, when league rivals AFC Hayes won 3-2 in an entertaining Preliminary Round tie at Chestnut Avenue.

After Hayes had taken a 14th minute lead, Northwood were level within two minutes through Niko Muir, then went ahead early in the second half with a goal from Dave Lawrence on his first starting appearance. But the Woods' hopes of progressing to the next round were dashed with two Hayes goals.

The match report and photos are here; the full colour matchday programme can still be ordered online from our publications section.

Dave Fox's young reserve side moved into second place in the Suburban League when they won 3-0 at Berkhamsted with goals from Regan Tobun, Charlie Parker and Josh Lambe; the match report is here.
