Under 18s get off the mark...

Northwood's Under 18s have achieved some excellent cup victories this season - knocking out Enfield Town, Metropolitan Police and Woking in various competitions.

But until last night, they had failed to win in the Ryman Youth League all season. That duck was ended at the Robert Parker Stadium when two goals from skipper David Palmer helped the young Woods to a 2-1 victory at Ashford Town. Well done to the whole squad!!

Single goal wins it for Egham

The Woods yesterday played their first Saturday fixture at Northwood Park since mid-December - and it wasn't a good homecoming as Egham Town took the Calor League points with a 1-0 victory.

Northwood, having played less than 48 hours earlier and with several injury problems, looked tired at times. Boss Mark Burgess gave a debut to 17-year-old youth team keeper Dan Daggett, and he made a couple of fine saves, but Woods - lacking injured top scorer Niko Muir - were uable to reply to Josh Andrew's 70th minute winning goal.

The match report and photos are here; the full colour matchday programme can still be ordered online from our publications section.

Dave Fox's reserve side won 2-0 at Newport Pagnell in the Suburban League, Steve Ward and Calvin Moses finding the net.

Woods lose in County Cup tie

Northwood's oft-postponed Middlesex Senior Cup quarter-final fixture away to Ryman Premier outfit Hampton & Richmond Borough finally went ahead at the Beveree Stadium last night - but the Woods went out of the competition after being on the end of a heavy 1-6 defeat.

The home side took an early lead only for Niko Muir to level on 11 minutes, but then Hampton took control and led 5-1 at the break before adding one more goal towards the end. The match report is here.

The reserves also played last night, going down 2-0 to Dunstable Town in a Suburban League fixture.

Aylesbury away fixture changed

The Woods' Calor League fixture away to Aylesbury has now been re-dated. Postponed at the end of January, the game was moved to Tuesday week. But Mark Burgess's side will now visit Haywood Close on Tuesday 15th April, with a 7.45 p.m. kick-off.

Northwood's Isthmian Veterans Cup
quarter-final tie away at Waltham Forest has been rescheduled for just over a week’s time, on Sunday 2nd March, with kick-off at 2.00 p.m. The winners of that game will play at home to Leiston or Kingstonian in the semi-finals.

Under 18s KO Conference club Woking

The Woods' Under 18s once again saved their best performance for the Lucas Fettes League Cup this evening as they moved into the quarter-finals with an excellent 1-0 victory over Conference club Woking.

Adam Wais scored the all-important goal in the 81st minute and the Woods held on superbly. They now travel to Sutton United in the next round. The match report and photos are here.

Woods back in action and take points

Northwood escaped the recent rain-ravaged fixture list this afternoon as they ran out 3-1 winners away to Leighton Town in a Calor League fixture.

All the goals came in the first half, Karl Oliyide putting Woods ahead with a fine solo effort, then a spot-kick from top scorer Niko Muir hit the crossbar but James Burgess headed home the rebound.

Leighton pulled a goal back with two minutes of the half remaining, only for Oliyide to quickly break again and shoot home number three. The match report will follow....

The clubs' second strings were also due to meet today, in a Suburban League fixture at Chestnut Avenue, but that game is postponed as the playing surface is still waterlogged.

County Cup tie postponed until next week

This evening's Middlesex Senior Cup quarter-final away to Ryman Premier outfit Hampton & Richmond Borough has been postponed as The Beveree playing surface is waterlogged.

The tie has been re-arranged to next Tuesday, 18th February.

Ashford Town game falls to weather

The Woods' Calor League fixture against Ashford Town at Chestnut Avenue this afternoon has, perhaps not surprisingly following so much heavy rain, been postponed as the pitch is waterlogged.

For supporters and collectors, the full colour matchday programme can be ordered online from our publications section.

The Suburban League Shield game at Berkhamsted has been postponed.

Kettering & Potters Bar games re-arranged

The Woods' home Calor League fixture against Kettering Town, originally due to be played at Northwood Park last Saturday, has now been re-arranged to Tuesday 18th March, kick-off 7.45 p.m.

The game away to Potters Bar Town, twice postponed, is now scheduled to be played at Parkfield on Tuesday 11th March, also with a 7.45 p.m. start.

Ryman cups semi-finals draws made

The draws were made today for the semi-finals of the two Ryman League Cup competitions that the Woods are still involved in.

If the Veterans side are successful in the Ryman Veterans Cup away at Waltham Forest on Wednesday 12th February they will have home advantage in the semi-finals as the winners have been drawn against either Leiston or Kingstonian, as they look to defend the trophy they won last year.

It's even harder for the Under 18s in the Lucas Fettes Cup. Their game at home to Woking has been postponed many times already and if they win when they finally get the game played, they still have to travel to Sutton United in the quarter-finals. They now also know that the winners of that will be away in the semi-finals to Burgess Hill Town.

Kettering Town match is postponed

This afternoon's Calor League fixture at Chestnut Avenue against Kettering Town has been postponed as the Northwood Park pitch is, unsurprisingly, waterlogged.

Next up for the Woods is a home game versus Ashford Town next Saturday, 8th February, kick-off 3.00 p.m.

Aylesbury game is re-arranged

The run of postponements for the various Woods teams have required a number of dates to be re-arranged; the Calor League game away to Aylesbury has now been fixed for Tuesday 4th March.

One other postponement is next Monday's Central Division game at Potters Bar Town, who are now playing a County Cup tie against Watford instead.

Last night's Isthmian Veterans' Cup tie away to Waltham Forest was postponed, and has been rescheduled to Wednesday 12th February.

This evening's Lucas Fettes League Cup tie for the Under 18s at home to Woking is off, and is now scheduled for next Thursday, 6th February. A number of other Ryman Youth League games have also been re-dated, and the details are here.
