Three Boxing Day points for Northwood
The Woods took the points in today's Boxing Day derby against Kings Langley at Chestnut Avenue, to end their run of four successive drawn games. A goal in each half was sufficient for Northwood to clinch a 2-0 Evo-Stik Southern League Central Division victory in front of a decent crowd.
Louis Stead fired Woods ahead from the penalty spot on 35 minutes after skipper Steve Brown - back in action after a long injury lay-off - had been pushed in the box. The second, clinching, goal came ten minutes into the second period when a long free kick was headed across the box by Steve Brown for James Budden to powerfully head home his first Woods goal.
Northwood played out the closing stages with ten men following Myles Stephenson's early departure for receiving two yellow cards. The match report and photos are here.

Michael Murray leaves the club
Northwood's top scorer and talisman Michael Murray has left the club to join rivals and Southern League Central Division leaders Chalfont St Peter.
The Saints are already amongst the division's leading scorers, with striker Tony Mendy currently topping the scoring charts, but they clearly have lofty ambitions of challenging for the title this season.
Following a seven-day approach, Chalfont offered the player a financial deal well beyond anything that our club could compete with so Murray has decided to make the move to Mill Meadow.
In his two years at Northwood Park, Murray scored 30 goals in 85 appearances but has already enjoyed his most successful spell this season with 14 in 31 games.
The club thank him for his service and wish him every success in his new venture.

Burgo strengthens his squad
Mark Burgess has moved to strengthen the Northwood squad over the Christmas and New Year period by taking young Barnet striker Shane Cojocarel on a month's loan.
The 18-year-old has been a regular in the Bees' Development squad this season having scored plenty of goals for the Under 18s as they won the Youth Alliance Divisional title last season. Shane had a loan spell with Ryman Premier side Billericay Town earlier in the season and is expected to go straight into the squad for the home game against Kings Langley on Boxing Day. The manager will be hoping that the youngster can make a similar impression to that of Barnet defender Charlie Kennedy who impressed in his month's loan in November/December.
Burgess was also pleased to complete the signing of midfielder Georges Ehui from Burnham FC in time for the holiday fixtures. Georges, the younger brother of Joakim and Ismael, started his career as a scholar at Wycombe Wanderers, making a couple of League appearances. He then played for Eastbourne Borough, Corby Town and Margate before joining Burnham.

Northwood held by ten-men Ducks
Northwood had to settle for just a point in this afternoon's Evo-Stik Southern League fixture away to Aylesbury United at their current Thame home, despite the hosts playing with ten men for three-quarters of the match following a dismissal.
The Woods hit the woodwork four times in the game, but despite dominating almost throughout, the only man to find the target was Max Holland, who scored from close range just before the break after the home keeper had parried Niko Muir's effort. But Aylesbury equalised midway through the second period, and managed to hang on to take an unlikely point. The match report and photos are here.
Northwood's second string werev defeated 1-0 by North Greenford at Chestnut Avenue in a Suburban League fixture.

Can you help the club?
Northwood Chairman Ian Barry, writing in the matchday programme for Saturday’s visit of St Ives Town, has appealed for more behind the scenes help at home fixtures: “I have got to say that when we host a game, the very few people who are working here are certainly operating at full capacity, but it is somewhat embarrassing that we have so few people willing to do the necessary jobs.
“I'd even go so far to say that it is ridiculous that our Secretary has to pump up balls, wire up a tannoy system, print team sheets etc. whilst I'm doing my best to greet away officials, open up the outside catering unit and turnstiles, sort television channels and sound and anything else that crops up like people wishing to make bookings etc.
“If you can help in any way, then please do come forward as there's loads to do, but so few people to do these jobs. With a few extra helpers it would make the load much lighter all round.”
Please speak to Ian Barry as soon as possible if you can help the club in this way, or email him at ibarry@pathfindergtm.com.

Woods share the points with Godalming
The points were shared in last night's Evo-Stik Southern League clash with Godalming Town at Chestnut Avenue, the Central Division fixture ending in a 2-2 draw after the visitors had twice lead.

Godalming took a 14th minute lead when a deflected shot from Will Hutton wrong footed Berkley Laurencin, but 13 minutes later Michael Murray equalised from a free-kick.
Hutton netted his second of the game to restore the lead for the visitors in the 73rd minute before substitute Myles Stephenson levelled the scores once more with nine minutes left on the clock. The match report is here.

Northwood draw at Egham
The Woods shared the Evo-Stik Southern League points away to Egham Town this afternoon, with the game ending at 1-1.
Both goals came in the closing stages of the match after Michael Murray had sent a first half penalty over the bar. Niko Muir fired Northwood ahead on 84 minutes but Ryan Debattista levelled almost immediately.
So the Woods extended their current unbeaten away run to eight matches, but boss Mark Burgess was disappointed that his side surrendered their lead so soon after going in front. The match report and photos are here. Woods reserves went down 4-2 at Boreham Wood in a second leg Suburban League Cup tie, so were betaen 5-3 on aggregate; Osamu Allman and Mason Bush scored for Dave Fox's side.
Northwood were this evening drawn at home to Spelthorne Sports of the Combined Counties League in the quarter-final of the Middlesex Senior Cup; the tie is due to be played on Tuesday 19th January.
