Middlesex Premier Cup final at Northwood

This evening, Wednesday, Northwood Park stages what looks to be an intriguing clash in the Middlesex Premier Cup Final between the first team of the newly reformed Edgware Town and the Under 21s of Enfield Town.

Northwood’s own reserves were victims of Edgware Town in this competition earlier in the season but since then the Wares have undergone a change of manager and many players, forming a strong squad for their level under the management team of Michael Roche and Fabio Valenti, both former Edgware Town players. The squad includes former Northwood players such as Fergus Moore, Sam Styles, Richard Morton and striker Javonne Molloy, who started the current season here at the Woods.

There is plenty of experience in that side, but they are up against a strong and much younger team in Enfield Town, whose reserve side is actually their Under 21 development team who compete in the Ryman Under 21 League and have finished runners-up behind Grays Athletic in the North Division. They are also due to play AFC Hornchurch in the League Cup Final next week.

Kick-off is at 7.30 p.m., so why not pop down and take a look at who comes out on top?

Season finale for Northwood

The Woods ended their Evo-Stik Southern League season with a 2-2 draw away to Bedford Town in a Division One Central fixture this afternoon.

Michael Murray gave Northwood a 21st minute lead, only for Bedford to level a few minutes before the interval. Rob Hastings fired Woods ahead again just after the hour mark, but once more, the home side equalised within a few minutes - and that was how it finished. The match report and photos are here.

Bedworth defeat ends Woods' home fixtures

A Bedworth United goal in each half meant that Northwood's home Evo-Stik Southern League fixtures came to an end with a defeat this evening. The Midlanders' three points ensured that they will be in the play-offs next week, along with Royston, Aylesbury and either Barton Rovers or Rugby.

Northwood went close to a goal when Dave Lawrence hit the bar in the second half, but United did enough to win the game and avenge the Woods' victory at The Oval earlier in the season.

Goal-less draw against Aylesbury

The Woods' penultimate home fixture of the season ended goal-less this afternoon, when the clash with play-offs bound Aylesbury saw neither side able to break the deadlock.

The visitors enjoyed the bulk of the play in the first half of the Evo-Stik Southern League Central Division clash, although Northwood did go very close on a couple of occasions. Mark Burgess' side came more into it after the break but there weren't too many serious attempts on goal, and they now look forward to the return visit of Bedworth on Tuesday.

Bedworth game is re-arranged

Following a Football Association disciplinary hearing at Wembley Stadium today, the Evo-Stik Southern League fixture at home to Bedworth United - which was controversially abandoned by the referee last month - has now been re-arranged.

The game will be played at Northwood Park next Tuesday evening, 21st April, kick-off 7.45 p.m. The Southern League have decreed that admission will be "all-pay", and that season tickets will not be valid for this fixture.

Woods come from behind to see off Aylesbury United

Two goals in two second half minutes saw Northwood come from behind to take all three Evo-Stik Southern League points from this afternoon's home game against Aylesbury United, as they ran out 3-2 winners.

Niko Muir fired Woods ahead on 12 minutes, only for Aylesbury to level seven minutes before the break, then the visitors went ahead early in the second period. But Rob Hastings finished coolly in the 62nd minute to level - and soon after Perry Dicker headed home from a Dave Lawrence cross for what proved to be the winner in an entertaining match.

Single goal decides derby game at Greenford

The Woods went down to their second Evo-Stik Southern League defeat in three days this afternoon when they were beaten by the only goal of the game at old Middlesex rivals North Greenford in a Central Division fixture.

The home side's winner came on 55 minutes and was a fine strike, but there wasn't too much else to excite the tiny Bank Holiday crowd. The match report and photos are here.

Northwood are beaten at Rugby

A goal on the brink of half time cost the Woods a share of the Evo-Stik Southern League spoil at Rugby Town in a Central Division fixture this afternoon. The Butlin Road outfit maintained their push for the play-off positions, having taken a 24th minute lead.

Northwood top scorer Ismael Ehui levelled within three minutes, but Seb Lake-Gaskin grabbed what proved to be the winner just before the interval whistle. The match report and photos are here.

Northwood reserves played a goal-packed Suburban League fixture today, going down by a remarkable 6-3 scoreline at Binfield, Liam Baker hitting a hat-trick for Woods.
