WOODS BACK WITH A BANG
HAM 1 NORTHWOOD 4
After weeks of torment, Northwood bounced back with a crushing display that pits them well up with the Middlesex League leaders again.
Manager Pat Madigan described it as his team’s best performance this season, and he was probably right.
It took Northwood only thirteen minutes to open their account, when McGowan floated in a cross which Cooper fired against a post then prodded home the rebound.
Woods added to their score before the break through Pearce, and in the second half Tidd fired home from the edge of the area after a corner was only half-cleared.
Ham pulled a goal back when they made the most of some slack marking, but Alec McGowan side-footed the Woods’ fourth in the dying minutes.
Northwood: Russell, Heslop, Hammond, Gould, Saunders, Tidd, Franklin, McGowan, Cooper, Pearce, Jones, sub. Roberts.
