WOODS DRAW AGAIN
NORTHWOOD 1 BARNES 1
Northwood dropped yet another valuable Middlesex League point on Saturday when they mysteriously failed to beat a lowly-placed Barnes side. They are gradually slipping behind in the race for the title, while Yeading continue to make methodical progress towards honours.
Throughout Saturday’s game Woods were pressing on the Barnes goal, but either poor shooting or brave goalkeeping kept them at bay.
It was against the run of play that the Surrey visitors took the lead, but strangely it wasn’t a surprise.
Woods continued to press forward, but their efforts became increasingly desperate as the breakthrough could not be achieved. Then five minutes from time Gary Cooper got on the end of a cross from Tidd to firmly head in the equaliser past Barnes keeper McCann.
Northwood: Russell, Heslop, Hammond, Gould, Saunders, Tidd, Franklin, Pearce, Cooper, Roberts, Jones.
