NORTHWOOD RUN OUT OF STEAM
SOUTHALL RES. 3 NORTHWOOD 0
Northwood slumped out of the Middlesex Intermediate Cup under the Western Road floodlights to a far superior Southall reserves side last week.
Without the suspended Robin Tidd and Nigel Franklin, and with Gary Cooper still sidelined with a back injury, Northwood were unable to match the skills of the home side.
For the first half Northwood matched Southall for effort, but the home team’s finishing was better, and when a chance fell to Ray Knowles, he made no mistake from 12 yards.
Despite some good defensive work, the slick Southall side netted two more goals before the end.
Northwood: Kessell, Mills, Harman, Gould, Heslop, Hester, Stone, Clarke, Roberts, Pearce, A. Roche.
