NORTHWOOD BLOT THEIR COPY-BOOK
NORTHWOOD 0 MILL END 2
Northwood’s Jekyll and Hyde form continues. Following last week’s thrashing of Barnes the Woods showed just what an unpredictable team they can be when they went down at home to near rivals Mill End.
Seven days earlier Northwood had destroyed Barnes with a display of lethal marksmanship. Against Mill End they created even more chances, but failed to find the net.
And then when Mill End played a through ball that the Northwood defence thought harmless, but when Mills and Tidd combined to clear the ball, it ricocheted off an visiting forward to beat the advancing Kessell.
Northwood should have equalised immediately, when Gary Cooper had an open goal in front of him, but somehow he managed to hit a post. Then Franklin rounded the keeper and set up Tidd for the simplest of chances, but he shot way over the bar.
In the second half Cooper and Franklin again fluffed chances, and the front runners’ inability to find the net was to be a feature of the rest of the game.
When Miller put Mill End two up, Northwood were clearly beaten, and there was no way back for them.
Northwood: Kessell, Harland, Harman, Gould, Heslop, Tidd, Franklin, Pearce, Clarke, Dibbens, Cooper.
