DIBBENS DOUBLE IN WOODS WIN
NORTHWOOD 3 HANWELL TOWN 0
Northwood showed no signs of fatigue in beating their old rivals Hanwell Town on Monday despite playing only 48 hours after their cup semi-final win at Bedfont. The inclusion of Roberts, Dibbens and Murphy gave the side a breath of fresh air and the Woods never looked back.
Heslop moved into midfield and he added a steeliness to the guile of Roberts and Tidd, who was at his superb best. Hanwell hardly had a look-in during the first half as Northwood pushed forward on both flanks, with Cooper looking particularly dangerous on the left.
Full-back Mills was almost employed as an extra winger, and from one of his crosses Dibbens nodded Northwood into the lead.
The Woods continued to build attacks, and the visitors had no answers to their quick inter-passing, although on one break Barnes made a fine run and saw his vicious shot well saved by Kessell.
Northwood were still well on top in the second half, and Cooper almost increased the lead with a snap header from a Mills cross, and then Murphy almost burst through from a deep position.
It seemed just matter of time before Northwood increased their lead and when Pearce swung in a corner, Dibbens rose to head firmly into the net.
Northwood refused to release their grip, and within seconds of Wilford coming on as substitute he raced onto a through-ball and calmly picked his spot.
Northwood: Kessell, Harman, Gould, Murphy, Mills, Tidd, Heslop, Roberts, Pearce, Dibbens, Cooper, sub. Wilford.
