MATCH REPORTS 1973-74

Saturday 9 March 1974
THE SEASON DIES ON NORTHWOOD
NORTH HAREFIELD 3  NORTHWOOD 0

Northwood lost their last chance of salvaging something from a depressing season when they went out of the Middlesex League Cup at the quarter final stage on Saturday.

Now all that is left is the fight against re-election, whilst at the same time building for the future.

North Harefield dominated most of the first half and should have had a substantial lead to show for their efforts instead of a blank scorellne at the interval.

John Willis hit a Northwood post as early as the fifth minute and John Ferrer had a shot blocked when a pass to a colleague would probably have been more beneficial, Ferrer was obviously anxious to get on the scoresheet as he was playing his last game for the club.

Acting skipper for the day, he finally made it in the second period as his side finally found the goals that took them into the semi-final.

Northwood: Gillon, Harland, Heslop, Hester, Blanch, Byrne, Pearce, Clarke, Coulter, Vincent, Metcalfe, sub. Roberts.
