STEDFAST 1 NORTHWOOD 4
NORTHWOOD 3 STEDFAST 3
Saturday 18th April 1970
Northwood's championship challenge became much more real with the points they gained from a double-header with Stedfast. Northwood took a squad of 16 players and fielded their strongest side for the first encounter, which they won 4-1.
A rasping drive from Horsford put Northwood into the lead, and within a few minutes Sanders had made it 2-0 with a fine run and shot. With thoughts on the second game, Northwood eased up, but scored again through Byrne and Horsford before Stedfast made a late reply.
They almost paid for complacency in the second game, drawing 3-3 with only five minutes left.
Senior and Byrne scored first half goals, but Stedfast drew level at 2-2. Gould made it 3-2 but Wickison put through his own net to make it 3-3.
