WOOD STROLL
NORTHWOOD 5  ASSEMBLY POINT 1

Northwood never really impressed in their Harrow Memorial Shield quarter final against lower placed Assembly Point but strolled to a 5-1 victory.

Horsford put home Byrne's header and after Millward and Roche had both hit the bar, Horsford again scored to make it 2-0. Point got back in the game with a goal just before half-time.

Sleepy Northwood took too long to settle in the second half, but went further ahead when Byrne shot home. Then they relaxed again until five minutes from time when they added two more goals, Byrne from the edge of the box and then Roche.

Northwood Reserves stepped up their chance of honours with a 5-2 win over Giovanota Reserves. Dave and Bob Neighbour found the scoring touch and shared four goals, and Steve Pearce added another to complete Northwood's total.

Northwood "A", who had settled for runners-up position two weeks ago, are now back with a great chance of taking the title. On Saturday they hammered Alveston 4-0 and if they can beat the leaders next week will take the title. Two goals from Tibbs saw the “A”’s well on the way to victory. Musgrove and Wilding added to the score.
