NORTHWOOD'S SHIELD
ALVESTON 0 NORTHWOOD 4
Despite their huge fixture backlog, Northwood finally managed to take a title when on Saturday they trounced a lively Alveston side 4-0 in the final of the Harrow Memorial Shield.
Sanders narrowly missed connecting with a Horsford cross in the opening stages, and then Horsford's follow-up from Gould's cross was cleared off the line.
Alveston's centre-half headed another Horsford effort from under the bar, and then Byrne, put clear by Sanders, was hacked down. Gould scored from the spot to put Northwood a goal up at the interval.
A reshuffled Northwood side went out for the second half and Horsford soon notched the goal he had. been looking for.
Northwood scored twice in the next 10 minutes, Dodd heading home a Gould cross and Horsford setting up a chance for Sanders to push home a fourth goal.
