BYRNE HAT-TRICK IN NAP HAND
IVANHOE ATHLETIC 1 NORTHWOOD 5
Northwood completed their fifth game in seven days with a convincing win over lowly-placed Ivanhoe.
This was Northwood’s third consecutive victory, and ensures them a place in the top three of the Harrow, Wembley & District League’s senior division.
Northwood attacked from the start, scored an early goal through D.P. Byrne, and with Coombes and Gregory controlling the midfield and the wing-halves also dominant, the game became a little one-sided.
Byrne headed home a Coombes cross for the second goal, and Harding made it 3-0 from the spot.
The second half was a formality and although Ivanhoe pulled one back, further goals by Gregory, a 30-yarder, and Byrne, a lob, to complete his hat-trick, enabled Northwood to stroll to their fifteenth league win of the season.
