DOUBLE VICTORY FOR NORTHWOOD
NORTHWOOD 2 HARROW WEALD 0
HARROW WEALD 0 NORTHWOOD 7
In order to reduce their backlog of fixtures, on Saturday Northwood played two Harrow & Wembley League fixtures against Harrow Weald, winning 2-0 and 7-0.
In the first match Northwood seemed to be suffering from after-effects of a surprise defeat the previous week. D.P Byrne scored for Northwood, and Harrow Weald conceded an own goal.
In the second game, however, it was apparent that Northwood had conserved their energy. They attacked from the kick-off, and a tremendous long-range shot from Jackman gave them the lead.
Gregory, a non-stop runner, moved onto a through ball to smash home the second goal. The third goal was even better than the first two. Coombes hit a rocket shot past the keeper from 25 yards.
D. Sanders made it 4-0 with a strong shot from an acute angle, and Coombes scored twice more, with a slick header and then a great shot from 30 yards.
The scoring was completed by young full-back Brownlow, an outstanding prospect.
Northwood: R. Byrne, D. Byrne, T. Brownlow, G. Harding, L. Kaufman, D. Jackman, D. Sanders, D. Gregory, D.P. Byrne, B. Coombes, D. Godley.
