SING ALONG WITH THE WOODS!
Casting aside the frustrations of recent weeks, Northwood FC bounced back to form with a vengeance on Saturday to record a stunning Middlesex League Premier Division victory.
Mill End made some dreadful defensive errors, and an increasingly confident Northwood were not slow to convert them into goals.
Northwood’s win was even more encouraging because it was completed without the talented Ian Harvey. Having settled a dispute with the club late last week, Harvey willingly accepted the substitutes’ role, but was not required.
Northwood achieved the start they so desperately wanted when Don Dibbens broke from midfield, and his looping pass gave Pete Millward the chance to volley home.
Inspired by their new captain, Ron Bramley, Northwood became really menacing, and Steve Pearce and Harvey then gave them a 3-0 interval lead.
An early penalty after the restart allowed Mill End renewed hope, but further Northwood goals by Paul Byrne (2), playing his first game in the side for almost two years, and Chub Hester, at last gave Northwood something to sing about.
