Northwood’s preparations for the forthcoming season gathered pace as
they played host to League Two Barnet.
And Woods were quickly out of the blocks as they raced into a two
goal lead inside the opening six minutes.
Michael Gordon was instrumental in both goals, setting up Abdul Yoki
for the opener on three minutes, before he himself executed a
sublime chip from the corner of the box for the second goal.
Northwood continued to hold the upper hand, with Yoki and Gordon
going close once more although Barnet’s Danny Hart dragged his shot
wide of the upright when well placed.
And Woods superiority was confirmed as they grabbed a third goal on
22 minutes, Sean Sonner, Yoki and Terry Davies all involved in a
slick move which culminated in Gordon applying the clinical finish.
However, the visitors gained some solace before the half-time break
as the were awarded a penalty for a handball offence, Luke Medley
converting the 35th minute spot-kick.
Aryan Taj and Richard Orlu were half-time replacements for Yoki and
Ryan Tackley respectively, whilst Adrian Abramian was introduced for
Davies and Matt Plasket replaced Joe Cowen in defence.
Northwood continued to see plenty of the ball although clear-cut
chances were at a premium, despite Sonner and Abramiam showing
plenty of willing in attack.
Woods continued to shuffle the pack, with Andre Delisser, Max
Howell, Danny Julienne, Jack Bennett and Liam Sonner all getting a
taste of the action before the end of the evening.
Barnet made a number of substitutions themselves with their first
choice attacking pairing of Cliff Akurang and Adam Birchill resuming
their partnership.
But the visitors were unable to breach a resolute Northwood defence,
Danny Murphy’s goal-line clearance from Akurang the closest they
came to reducing the lead on a highly satisfactory evening for Colin
Payne’s squad. |
