Cambridge City game is postponed

Following a pitch inspection this morning, today's Evo-Stik League South, East fixture against Cambridge City has been postponed as the playing surface is waterlogged, after the heavy rain.

The game has been re-arranged to Wednesday 18th April, kick-off 7.45 p.m.

Brothers sign on deadline day

Shortly before the recent Southern League registration deadline, acting manager Gordon Boateng captured the signings of two attacking players in the hope of improving the Woods' goalscoring record in the final month of the season.

Brothers Chris Benjamin and Joe Benjamin both left play-off seeking Haringey Borough to join Northwood and are expected to be involved in the games over the upcoming Easter holiday period.

Chris is an experienced 25-year-old striker who has also played for St Albans City, Redbridge, Sutton United, Harrow Borough, Grays Athletic and Bury Town, while Joe is a former Northampton Town striker who is now 27 and in recent years he has also played for Billericay Town, Lowestoft Town, St Neots Town, Grays Athletic, Bury Town, Dulwich Hamlet, Harlow Town and Bishop’s Stortford.

Beaconsfield sneak the win

Northwood's spirited, battling performance so deserved a share of the Evo-Stik League South, East points this afternoon when they went down 2-3 against promotion-chasing Beaconsfield Town at Chestnut Avenue.

The visitors went ahead after just two minutes, but a pair of fine strikes from top scorer Jermaine Osei meant that that the Woods led at the interval. However, the home side had to play the second half with ten men following the dismissal of Joe Russell for two yellow cards - the first of which shown by the poor, officious, referee was completely ludicrous.

And two goals within a minute soon after the restart gave Beaconsfield a lead they scarcely merited, but despite plenty of promising play from Northwood in the final half-hour, they couldn't quite manage a deserved equaliser.

Two goals sink the Woods

Despite giving a good performance, the Woods went down to a 2-0 Evo-Stik League South, East defeat away to Aylesbury United this evening. A lack of a cutting edge up front ultimately cost Northwood once again, with the home side's two goals coming within three second half minutes.

Woods go down at Dunstable

A goal in each half meant that Northwood came away pointless from this afternoon's Evo-Stik League South, East fixture at promotion-chasing AFC Dunstable.

Nathan Frater put Dunstable ahead midway through the first half, with Bernard Christie's 79th minute goal confirming the home side's victory, extending the Woods' disappointing recent run to just one win in twelve outings.

The match report and photos are here; the Woods are back in action on Wednesday evening when they play Aylesbury United at Chesham.

Hanwell Town game re-arranged

Middlesex derby lost in stoppage time

An Uxbridge goal four minutes into added time robbed Northwood of a share of the Evo-Stik League South, East points in a Middlesex derby at Chestnut Avenue this evening.

There had been chances at both ends, but Luke Maguire's 94th minute Uxbridge winner decided the game - the third time in four home games that the Woods have conceded in added time.
