Northwood take a point from Isthmian opener at Thatcham
The Pitching-In Isthmian League season got underway this afternoon when the new-look Northwood squad earned a point from a 1-1 draw at Thatcham Town in a South Central fixture.
Ben Murray took charge of his first competitive Woods fixture, and it was a completely new team which took the field, with eight debutants and three return-debuts.
There was a nervy first half for the Woods, but the point was earned by keeper Montel Joseph performing heroics, and Shakeel Morris netting the equaliser when he cut in from the left and curled the ball into the top corner on 74 minutes after the home side had taken a first half lead. James Brown's photos and match report by Robin Piper are here.

Nevertheless, this was a good workout for Ben Murray's squad - Robin Piper's match report is here.
Northwood's Under 18s went down 3-4 to their counterparts at Kings Langley in a friendly on Thursday evening, Mayvin Vigneswaren, Josh Beckles and Will Robinson scoring for the Woods; match report is here.
