Woods Isthmian U18s manager stands down - applications for post invited

Paul Masters has decided to step down as our Under 18 Isthmian Youth League Manager with immediate effect. He said: "It’s been really enjoyable coaching staff for the Under 18’s, and I feel like we’ve been so close to being really successful in the league but yet so far, as the results have proven.

"Northwood is a great club to be around and the first team are going from strength to strength. The inclusion of Lewis Batten and Will Robinson has shown that there is a path into the senior side. The coaching staff of the first team are not afraid to push youth into the squad to further their development and improve the team."

We thank Paul and his management team for their efforts at the club, and now invite applications for the position. Please email Chairman Ian Barry at ibarry@pathfindergtm.com in the first instance - WhatsApp and text messages will be ignored. Please state why you wish to be considered for the position and detail any relevant experience you have.

Woods win 8-1 against Staines in final fixture

Northwood ended their Pitching In Isthmian League South Central season with all guns blazing as they romped to an 8-1 victory away to Staines Town. The match was played at Wealdstone, with Staines' relegation already confirmed and the club's very future in doubt.

Kyal Williams put Woods ahead on seven minutes, but were shocked when Staines levelled two minutes later after what turned out to be a rare attack.

Matt Surmon restored Northwood's advantage, and the Woods led 4-1 at the interval. Surmon completed a hat-trick - his first goals for the club - in the second half, with other goals coming from Kyal Williams again, Sydney Ibie and two for Josh Helmore. A great way to end the season, and Northwood's biggest league victory since April 1992!

Northwood lose to a single goal at Chalfont

A single goal cost the Woods the Pitching In Isthmian League South Central points this afternoon when they went down at Chalfont St Peter in their penultimate fixture of the season.

The main talking points perhaps revolved around the over-busy referee, who issued a slew of cards, including two reds for Northwood.

The crucial winning goal - which gives Chalfont hope of avoiding a relegation play-off place - came on 79 minutes from former Woods man Micah Jackson. The match report and photos are here.

Former Woods stalwart G.W. "Joe" Saunders celebrates his 90th birthday

Happy birthday and warm wishes go to the club’s former player, secretary, treasurer and manager G.W. “Joe” Saunders, who celebrates his 90th birthday today!

Joe really was Mr Northwood during the 1950s and 1960s, and was quite literally the saviour of the club during a difficult period. For a time, Joe ran the club almost single-handedly, and kept the club afloat with help from wife Ann and their family.

Joe's playing days at left-back for Northwood started back in 1949, and he made many appearances in the club's Harrow, Wembley & District League days, finishing with a few games in our Middlesex League debut season in 1970.

We wish Joe a very happy 90th birthday from all his friends at Northwood Football Club; enjoy your family celebrations!!
