PLUM DRAW FOR NORTHWOOD
OLD ALPERTONIANS 3 NORTHWOOD 5
A great extra-time win against Old Alpertonians secured Northwood a plum draw with Hounslow Town in the first round proper of the Middlesex Intermediate Cup.
Trailing 1-0 after nine minutes, Northwood fought back to equalise when a low centre from Perry was turned into the net by a defender. But Alpertonians regained their lead just before half-time.
In the second half, Northwood came back strongly to equalise when Gould headed in. At the end of ordinary time, the scores remained level.
In the second minute of extra time, however, Dodds crashed an angled drive to put Northwood in front. But it was short-lived when a defensive mix-up allowed Old Alpertonians back on terms.
Then with five minutes of the second extra time period left, Madigan hammered in a 30-yard drive, and to put the matter beyond all doubt, Gregory hit the fifth after a fine sole run.
