League Cup group stages are drawn
The draw for the group stages of the Alan Turvey Isthmian League Cup sponsored by Velocity has been made. The Woods will play at home to Staines Town and Uxbridge, with away fixtures at Bedfont Sports and Ashford Town - dates are here.
There is a change to the format of the League Cup this season, with the Division One clubs playing in ten regionalised groups, with the winners of each group going forward to the knockout stage when the Premier Division sides join in. There is prize money for each group winner. At the group stage, should any game end in a draw (no extra time to be played), there will be a penalty shoot-out to decide the winners and they will gain one extra point in the group. Another innovation is that all of the five substitutes named may be used during the game.
In the preliminary round of the Isthmian Youth League Cup, Northwood have been drawn away to Bracknell Town; the tie will be played on Wednesday 11th September.

Northwood win 4-3 at AFC Hayes in friendly
The Woods narrowly edged a 4-3 pre-season friendly victory at AFC Hayes this evening, with six of the goals coming in the first half.
Matt Cooper and Marley Hamilton gave Northwood a two-goal lead early in the game, before the home side pulled one back after the ball spun down off the bar and allegedly over the line.
But AFC Hayes, encouraged by their good fortune, pushed forwards and were rewarded with two further goals before Harry Lodovica levelled with a class finish. Just one goal in the second half, Kyran Worrell scoring what proved to be Northwood's winner. But still plenty of work to be done by manager Scott Dash and his squad before 17th August. The match report is here.

Ground funding bid update
After the short delay, the club are hoping to get approval for our funding bid from the Football Stadium Improvement Fund in the next few weeks, in which case we will be in a position to kick on with our plans just before the new season gets underway! We again thank all those kind individuals who have already donated towards the costs of this work.
So, we are now back to ask for the final push towards reaching our target of raising £10,000 towards the £30,000 that the club has to contribute towards those stadium improvements, and we would be extremely grateful for anything you can afford to donate towards this worthy cause. We still need just under £3,500 to reach the target and ensure that we can make a quick start to the improvements as soon as we get the go-ahead.
All donors will be recognised for their contribution with their name added to a patrons list that will be on display in the Stadium. If you can help, this is the link: https://www.gofundme.com/sdh5vb-stadium-improvements.

Northwood FC Signs Sponsorship Deal With Namesake Manufacturer
Leading manufacturer and supplier of “Away-from-Home” professional paper hygiene and wiping products, Northwood, has signed a two year sponsorship deal with Northwood FC, in a move set to help transform the fortunes of the ambitious club.
The family-owned, Telford-based company will sponsor the first team kit of the semi-professional Step 4 non-league senior club from Northwood, Middlesex. The team shirt will bear the logo of Northwood’s super-strength Rhino kitchen roll, sold within the Freedom range.
The new funding will support Northwood FC in its ambition to acquire more top players as it strives to challenge for Step 3 promotion.
Said Northwood’s marketing manager, Paul Mulready “We were delighted to take the opportunity to support our namesake team, based not far from our Harrow operation, as it works towards becoming an even bigger and better club.”
Northwood FC Chairman Ian Barry commented: “I’m delighted to welcome ‘Northwood’ as our Main Sponsor for a minimum of two seasons. The deal recognises our own ambitions and importantly continues our link with a local company. As the club continues to move forward in all areas, the significance of this announcement bears resemblance to our determination to continue growing and we thank all at Northwood for their generosity and support and we all look forward to a long and fruitful relationship.”
Added Northwood FC club secretary, Alan Evans: “Sponsorships like this present clubs with a vital source of income, and we are particularly excited to receive the support of a company with strong local connections.”
