After two previous attempts to play the game was postponed due to weather conditions, the Woods finally managed to stage their Middlesex Senior Youth Cup game at home to PFC Victoria, albeit in wet conditions!

A hard game was expected as our opponents were unbeaten in their own league – the Combined Counties League U18 Division West – from seven matches, only held to a draw in a fixture against Hillingdon Borough.

But it was an excellent performance from the Woods from the start as they looked to return to winning ways having drawn their last two league matches and conceding ground to Tring Athletic at the top of the table.

It was 2-0 in less than ten minutes. Michael Kelly setting up Henry Atkinson for the opener and then Freddie Ford presented Kelly with the opportunity for his first.

PFC did go close shortly after this when a good strike clipped the crossbar but a third goal before the break, a second for Kelly, gave Northwood a comfortable 3-0 lead.

There was no switching off in the second half as just four minutes in, Aiden Tarrant headed home a Brian McGovern corner for a typical goal.

Royd Pullem added a fifth on the hour with a thumping shot and then two substitutes combined for a sixth when Joe Booth found top scorer Luke Finnegan in front of goal.

A free-kick from Tobi Faleye somehow fooled the keeper and crept in at the keeper’s near-post for the seventh, his first goal for the side, and the scoring was wrapped up with a deft chip from Kelly to complete his hat-trick.
