The Woods Under 18s battled hard to reach the final of the Middlesex Senior Youth Cup but in almost identical circumstances to last season, they fell at the final hurdle against an excellent Bedfont Sports side.

Northwood were, as last year, originally drawn at home in the semi-final but with the weather postponing the original game and with the date for the final imminent, the rescheduled match had to be switched, giving the Eagles home advantage.

Exactly the same thing happened when the two clubs met a year ago at the same stage!

And it was the home side that impressed in the first half with their striker nabbing two goals to give his side a clear 2-0 advantage at the break.

The Woods made a gallant attempt to battle back in the second half but any goals were eluding them until substitute James King netted his first goal for the side about ten minutes from time to raise some hopes of a late equaliser which would have forced a penalty shoot-out for the second year running.

Alas, it was not to be and the home side held on for a 2-1 win and a place in the final (also taking place at Bedfont Sports) against non-Middlesex side Walton & Hersham!
