After the positive display against Bedfont in their previous match, the Under 18s went into this Middlesex Senior Youth Cup fixture with slightly more confidence. A bright start and a fantastic through ball from Mayvin Vigneswaran splitting the defence was finished with ease by Will Robinson after only eight minutes. Cockfosters started to dictate the game and an equaliser came with 20 minutes on the clock.

The opposition took a stranglehold of the remainder of the first half but against the run of play Oscar John made it 2-1 to the Woods at the break.

Northwood started the second in a much better manner but concentration levels dropped and Cockfosters equalised once again. With 20 minutes remaining Harry Debenham got his head onto a well delivered free-kick from Kwao Amartefio to make it 3-2 to Northwood. Changes were made to try and see the game out but with only five minutes left, Cockfosters found the goal to make it 3-3 and with the inevitable penalty shoot out to follow.

But not tonight; in true cup fashion, the twists kept coming. Vigneswaran showed his class with a great solo goal beating two players before slotting past the keeper. He then completed his brace with a well-worked team move and drilling home the ball. And to complete the rout in the last minute, the Woods were awarded a penalty and Lewis Batten stepped up to make it 6-3 with our final three goals coming in four minutes.
