Northwood created some great early chances in their final pre-season friendly, and with more clinical finishing could have been two goals up within the first five minutes.
St Albans took the lead on 20 minutes with a well-directed header after good work down the right. The Woods equalised on the half-hour with a fine strike by Jamie Roche from just outside the box.
Five minutes later George Adams put Northwood in the lead with a low drive from the edge of the box.
Shortly before half time Woods had the opportunity to increase their lead after winning a penalty following a mazy run by Jack McDonnell, however, Danny O'Driscoll shot over the bar. Nevertheless, Danny had a good solid first game for Northwood.
Northwood made 10 changes for the second half, and the game was end-to-end with both teams creating good scoring opportunities. But St Albans equalised with five minutes remaining after a through ball split the defence.
The Woods finished the stronger side, and again with more clinical finishing could have taken the honours. On balance, this was a good work out for 20 of the squad, and a fair result in the balance of play.
