Camberley came to Chestnut Avenue with just one league defeat against their name this season, and couldn’t have expected to meet such a resilient Northwood. From the start Woods played some great stuff, but as has been the case all season, they just couldn’t find the back of the net.
Having dominated the first fifteen minutes the home keeper was suddenly called into action with a great tip over; if Daniel Daggett makes a better save this season i hope I’m there to see it. From here on in the game became more of an even contest, and Daniel needed to be at his best again in the 33rd minute when he pushed a shot against the crossbar.
Northwood rallied and in injury time of the first half Ronnie Blagden hit a fabulous free kick against the crossbar. Half time reached and despite Northwood playing most of the football, the sides went in at 0-0.
The restart saw Woods continue to dominate but the luck just wasn’t going their way. The major point of the match came after around thirty minutes of the second half. A goalmouth scramble in the Camberley area saw the bar hit, a goal line clearance and a hoof upfield.
With David Palmer off injured the home defence was caught out by Camberley’s lively centre forward and try as they did, Woods just couldn’t find a way back into the match.
The performance had been one of our best this season and if ever a team deserved to get something from a match this was it. Excellent performances all round.
