The Reserves played Harefield United Reserves this afternoon, and although many chances were created only one was converted and that wasn't enough to win this fixture played on Brunel University's 3G pitch.
On a very hot and humid day both teams contributed to a very competitive match once the early tension and hot headedness was dispensed with. The tempo was high, with both teams vying to open the scoring but it was Harefield who scored first to take an interval lead.
The second half saw Harefield start brightly and they doubled the lead after a ball into the penalty was not dealt with and the United player fired home. Northwood continued to get forward into good shooting positions but seemed reluctant to pull the trigger, instead wanting to take another pass and then another.
The Woods reduced the deficit after Ryan Lee was upended in the penalty area and Dan Puzey scored the resultant penalty kick. This goal gave Northwood renewed confidence and they created many more chances, but couldn't find that elusive touch in front of goal. The game was effectively over when Harefield broke away and scored a third goal just before full-time.
