Pat Byrne Stand - Official Opening

Prior to the game against Chertsey Town we were delighted to welcome the MP for Ruislip, Northwood & Pinner, David Simmonds CBE who, alongside Councillor Henry Higgins, performed the opening ceremony for the new Pat Byrne Memorial Stand.

The covered accommodation has been positioned in an area that Pat used to say was his favourite viewing position in the ground and was purchased with funds received at our former Life President’s memorial match which took place last October at Northwood and involved two sides of ex-club legends and players from the past, plus family members.

Those funds were then added to by a marvellous prize money win back in May when local Woods fan Sam Sheehan nominated the club to receive £5,000 from Papa John’s Pizza as part of their sponsorship of the Papa John’s Trophy Final at Wembley!

Chairman Ian Barry gave a fitting tribute to Pat over the PA system and it was the start of a great afternoon with plenty of Pat’s family at the ground to be part of the ceremony, and the whole playing squad also being a part of the unveiling.

They clubbed together to provide some flowers which were presented to Pat’s partner Shamira Hamirani, which was a lovely gesture.
