One of a new group of players who came to the club in the summer of 1988, Steve had previously played for Hillingdon Borough, Uxbridge and Harrow Borough. The 24-year-old started off in central defence but graduated into a ball-winning midfield player, good in the air and with an eye for a spectacular goal. A knee injury in 1990, having been a member of the League Cup winning side, ruled Steve out for quite some time but he did later play for the reserves and, fleetingly, for a two-game first-team spell once again in 1995.
