Alan started his career as a full-back at Bath
University, moving to Bristol Rovers in October
1980, and he made one Football League appearance
as substitute that season.
The Geordie, born in Wallsend,
was a winger at Northwood, possessing good pace, and
he had an excellent left foot.
He moved on to then-Isthmian League Kingsbury
Town in October 1984.
