Warren was just
turned 20 when he impressed enough in our reserve
side to get a run-out for the first-team in our
1992 title-chasing side. He ended up playing
sixteen league matches for the club and scored
sixteen goals, including all five in a 5-0
demolition of North Greenford United, who had
current Woods’ Chairman Ian Barry in goal!!
At the end of the
season, Warren moved to Cambridge United and
flirted with a professional career for a few years
before eventually settling back into the top level
of non-League football at Yeovil Town, Rushden &
Diamonds and Woking. He also gained nine England
semi-pro international caps. He finished his
career with a handful of games back at Northwood
in 2004, scoring one more goal for "old-times'
sake" at Leyton.
