It was March 1988 that Garfield made his Northwood debut in a 1-0 win at Southwark Sports, and he remained almost an ever-present in the Woods side, forming impressive strike-partnerships with a succession of players such as Henry Pacquette, John McCormack, Rod Findlay and Warren Patmore. An integral part in the London Spartan League and Cup successes, he moved onwards and upwards as we won promotion to the Isthmian League. Joining Marlow, he enjoyed plenty of triumphs there before moving to Slough Town for a couple of seasons. He joined Walton & Hersham in 1996 and went on to enjoy a long spell there, converted to midfield and then full-back. While at Northwood, Garth clocked up 194 appearances and scored 90 goals.
