Woods joint bosses Jack Smith and Jon-Jo Bates have been putting their squad through their paces this week, ahead of their first friendly on Saturday 5th July at Hillingdon Borough. And they have continued to build their squad for the upcoming season, with further players committing to Northwood.

One retained player is last season’s Woods Under 18s midfielder Brian McGovern, who made his first team debut at Barton Rovers in April and immediately impressed. The 18-year-old gained more experience at Oxhey Jets last season, too, and has a bright future ahead of him.

Midfielder Adz Baruwa joined the club in June 2025 after two excellent seasons with Leverstock Green, where he made over 70 appearances. He had previously played for CB Hounslow, North Greenford and Belstone.

Striker Dylan Kearney battled back from a serious injury to play at Flackwell Heath last season. He has previously scored goals for Uxbridge, Harrow Borough, Sutton United, Hayes & Yeading and Wingate & Finchley.

Northwood’s joint managers Jon-Jo Bates and Jack Smith have been very busy as they build their squad for the upcoming 2025-26 campaign, and they have had a host of players committing to the Woods for the new season – and we give you a run-down here!

Firstly, Managers’ Player of the Year Manny Folarin is back for a second season at the club. Manny made quite an impression after joining in November 2024 and he will captain the side this term.

Harry McKenna will start his third season with the Woods and our utility man will be looking to add to the 62 appearances he has already clocked up despite the bad shoulder injury that curtailed his last campaign.

Versatile defender Jack Empson is also back, having clocked up 36 appearances after joining in July 2024. Still only 21, Jack has plenty of potential to become a real dominant force in the Woods defence.

With bags of experience at this level, we’re delighted that Stefan Powell has agreed to return to the Woods. Joining for a second spell in November last year from Hadley, the 30-year-old made 22 appearances six years after his previous games for the club.

Also back at The Skyline is big striker Devonte Totesaut, who made an impact towards the end of last term netting twice in back-to-back games as his fitness improved; the experienced forward will be looking to carry on that form in the new campaign.

Harry McCorkell rejoins the club having spent the last season at Harrow Borough, winning both the Players’ & Manager's Player of the Year awards; the 26-year-old will be looking to add to the 32 games he played in 2023/24.

After playing a huge role in the promotion success of Berkhamsted in 2025, Hafad Al-Droubi has committed to the Woods for the forthcoming season for his third spell with the club. The experienced 30-year-old goalkeeper is a huge addition as the management build their squad.

And another goalkeeper in Andrew McCorkell is back for his fourth spell with the Woods, having made 81 appearances so far! Due to work commitments, Andrew will be taking a back-up keeper role this season, alongside helping the coaching staff.

Another warm welcome back to experienced midfielder Carl Stewart, who returns to the Woods after a season with Harrow Borough. The 27-year-old is back and ready to add to over a century of Northwood appearances since November 2021.

Defender Mack Miskin is another coming back to the Woods for a second spell, the 24-year-old joining from Harrow Borough, having also played at Hanwell Town and Braintree Town since he last appeared for the Woods.

Commanding defender Romario Jonas has been working hard on fitness over a year or so out of the game but the 27-year-old is back in the squad for pre-season looking to add to his 37 previous appearances for the Woods since July 2022.

Onto some new faces to Northwood, and we welcome Jordan Ellis, who joins us after several seasons with Hanworth Villa. Jordan has missed the past 18 months but will look to get back to fitness in pre-season.

The next new signing is attacker Riccardo Clarke-Rowe who has been out of the game for a while since spells with Broadfields United and Amersham Town, and he also will be working hard in pre-season to establish his place in the squad.

The Woods’ joint managers Jack Smith and Jon-Jo Bates have finalised their pre-season schedule, with the first game being at Hillingdon Borough on Saturday 5th July (1.00 p.m.).

Northwood entertain Wealdstone on Saturday 12th July, kick-off 3.00 p.m., then play Harrow Borough - now managed by ex Wood Wayne Carter - at Rectory Park, Northolt, on Monday 14th July (8.00 p.m.).

Games follow at Bedfont Sports on Saturday 19th July (3.00 p.m.) and Cobham three days later (7.30 p.m.). Ben Bukowski’s Hendon will visit The Skyline Roofing Stadium on Saturday 26th July, kick-off 3.00 p.m., and the schedule ends with a game at Egham Town on Tuesday 29th July (7.30 p.m.).

Northwood's FA Cup campaign gets underway on Saturday 2nd August, with the Southern League starting a week later. The Northwood fixture schedule is here.

The Woods are delighted to announce the return of Dennis Quigley to the club as assistant manager to our joint managers Jack Smith and Jon-Jo Bates.

Dennis came to the club in 2023 to help out with team matters under Ben Bukowski and then followed the former Woods boss to Harrow Borough last season in a coaching role. When Bukowski left to take over at Hendon in January, Harrow promoted Dennis to take charge as Manager for the rest of the season but they parted company once the campaign came to an end.

Dennis now returns to Northwood and said "I'm delighted to be back at the Woods after a year away, learning a lot, and I'm looking forward to working with Jack, JJ and the team to help build on the positive foundations they laid at the end of last season. I'm really excited for the season ahead."
