Darren Howell was one of the first players introduced by Tony Choules and his assistant Bob Webster. He signed from Egham Town, made his debut on the left wing in a Tuesday night home game against Wivenhoe Town, which Northwood lost 0-3 and was never to appear again. Injury was the reason but when he did start playing again it was back at Egham the following season.
