Visitors Hitchin Town secured home advantage in the end of season play-offs with this narrow victory at already relegated Northwood.

The Woods had the best chance of the early stages when Alie Bangura combined with Freddie Ford but shot across goal and just wide.

The Canaries then grabbed the lead after 30 minutes when top scorer Taylor Rhiney timed his run perfectly to get first run on Aidan Tarrant when a long ball was pumped forward and he showed a good touch to take it past goalkeeper Dani Cruz and slot in from a tight angle.

Northwood went close to levelling when Ford got up really well to head goalwards but it was acrobatically tipped over by visiting goalkeeper Tyler McGregor.

It was game over though when Hitchin were awarded a soft penalty after a challenge by Cruz out wide and Rhiney bagged his second from the spot.

The Woods could have grabbed a consolation goal ten minutes from time, though, when Arel Amu missed finishing a Bangura cross from six yards.
