NORTHWOOD BEGIN TO TAKE SHAPE
NORTHWOOD 2 C.A.V. 0
Northwood are beginning to settle into a Middlesex League team to be feared as they chalked up their third win on the trot on Saturday when they beat a classy CAV side.
But it's still a little ominous that Northwood's man of the match was goalkeeper Les Currell, who made four breathtaking saves between the posts.
Northwood started well, and pushed the visitors deep into defence. King was spraying great balls from midfield and Glyn Jones was causing CAV problems with his speed on the left wing.
Martin Ellis had a lob cleared on the line, Livingstone had a header disallowed and then King had a free-kick ricochet into the net, only to have to retake the kick because a defender was not ten yards away when the ball was kicked.
Half-time came without any score on the board, but Ellis soon changed this with his almost customary goal. He swept the ball in after good work by Harman. Merison and Livingstone.
Northwood pushed forward looking for a second goal, and Livingstone and Tidd both went very close.
With four minutes, to go the Woods settled matters. King broke from midfield and headed for the by-line before crossing for Franklin to head home.
Northwood: Currell; Heslop. Gould, Merison, Harman; Franklin, King, Tidd:, G. Jones, Livingstone, Ellis. Sub.: Curran.
