CREST ALWAYS IN CONTROL
NORTHWOOD 3 CREST 5
Northwood were beaten convincingly by Crest in this Harrow & Wembley League Premier Division game. Martin Hadland made a fine first team debut at right-back, but the functioning of the defence was poor throughout, and the need for a class centre-half emphasised more than ever.
Crest took the lead within a minute, but Northwood equalised through the hard-working John Parker.
Soon after half time Crest hit three goals in quick succession, before Paul Byrne, a second half deputy for Barry Gould, scored with a superb 25-yard drive.
Byrne also had a hand in Northwood’s third hitting the post twice in quick succession before the Crest right-back kicked into his own goal whilst trying to clear. Then Crest's fifth goal made certain of the issue.
Northwood: R. Byrne, M. Hadland, D. Godley, B. Gould, L. Kaufman, T. Brownlow, S. Pearce, B. Coombes, R. Dodds, D. Sanders, J. Parker, sub. D.P. Byrne.
