Northwood Reds Under 13s 8  Croxley Green Black 3

Our first game at Merchant Taylors saw the boys notch up their highest win of the season over our local rivals Croxley Green Blacks in the second round of the League Cup. After a late withdrawal of goal keeper Rayyan the team lined u with George in goal Ale, Arun Oliver & Lewis Ryan in defence with Felipe, Zaki, Daniel Terry the midfield with Lewis Ryan and Declan in the wide positions and Ashley up front on the bench was Dan Jago.

The game could not have started better, with the boys taking the lead on 2 minutes with Ashley finishing well from a pass from Ale. On the 22nd minute Ashley then turned provider for Lewis Reid to make it 2-0. The boys were playing the sort off football that we know they are capable of and were well on top of the game making it 3-0 before halftime with Lewis Reid getting his second, again from a pass from Ashley.

The second half again started well with Lewis Ryan taking a quick thrown in on the half way line for Lewis Reid to go on and complete his hatrick 4-0. Croxley were making some in roads but as last week their game was focused on the long ball which George and the defence were easily dealing with. However it was from one of these long balls that Croxley did get a corner that we didn’t defend that well and they got on the score sheet to make it 4-1. Five minutes later saw Ashley race free of the Croxley defence to make it 5-1. The boys then seemed to take their foot off the gas and let Croxley get 2 goals in 2 minutes that put them right back in the match 5-3. This though did seem to get the boys back into their stride and Ashley completed his hatrick on the hour with another fine finish. Both Ashley & Lewis Reid went on to get another goal apiece to make it 8 for the team and 4 each for themselves.

I really can say that again the performance of the team was great and Lewis Reid for his overall contribution to the game got a well deserve player of the match. All the boys did really well but also special praise goes to George who had an outstanding performance in goal and Arun who also had a very good game at the back.

Well done to all the boys!
