Third Team: Pre-season Newsletter 2009-10

To all involved with another successful campaign, a big thank you to everyone. Special thanks to Laurie and Wilfy for all their hard work organising team and finance matters, throughout the season.

Third Team News

At the Vets team AGM, held at the clubhouse on Tuesday 30th June, the following decisions were made about the forthcoming season.

Laurie Simmonds and Wilfy Wilson have decided to “step-down” from their managerial roles. A big thank you to them both, for all their efforts, during the past season. The new management partnership is Gary Collinson and Tim Delaney.

Richard Doyle will continue to be London Commercial League Secretary for Northwood Thirds, ably assisted by Billy Toland, as in previous years. Laurie Simmonds and Wilf have kindly agreed to help Gary and Tim with the treasury roles for the current campaign, so now very much a team effort. We still will need help throughout the season on a week to week basis. Match day jobs like collecting subs, putting corner flags out, water bottles etc… will be shared out equally amongst players throughout the season.

At present we are waiting the new London Commercial League constitution for next season 2009/2010. All the latest developments can be found on this website. The first league games in the London Commercial League are due on Saturday 19th September, therefore all signing-on forms should be completed by Saturday 12th September to be valid to play in the first league game.


Training

Pre-Season training will be every Thursday evening at the club, starting on Thursday 30th July 2009, 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start. Clubhouse facilities (showers and bar) are available each week. We will continue at the club until the Eastcote Hockey Club astroturf booking commences (mid September), the start date is yet to be confirmed.
The Astroturf booking will be every Monday night throughout the Winter months, the time slot will be 7.30 to 8.30pm each week, as previous years.
New players are always welcome at training, £4 payable on the night.


Season 2009/2010 Finances

At the Third team AGM it was decided that this season's “signing-on” fee will be kept at £50.00 per player. We will also need to collect subs per game, and it was decided the match fees to remain at £6.00 per game at present, whilst reviewing the finances with the view to increasing subs, if needed.
We may well need some sort of fundraising during the season, which everyone is expected to support, and details will be available as the season progresses.

Please let Tim, Gary, Laurie or Wilfy have your signing-on fee a.s.a.p. or speak to them about paying in instalments, if you prefer.

Any fines for bookings or sending-offs are the responsibility of the player involved, these must be paid as soon as they are due to the Middlesex F.A.

Season 2009/2010 Kick-off

We have a few pre-season friendlies being arranged at present. Details will be available at training. It is hope to start playing these in late August. Please advise the managers of any impending holiday commitments. The London Commercial League campaign starts on Saturday 19th September.
