Third Team: Pre-season Newsletter 2010-11

 

Last Season: 2009/10

We managed to finish 3rd in Division 3 and together with a couple of excellent cup runs, last season proved very successful for Northwood Thirds.

Special thanks to Laurie, Wilfy, Tim & Gary for all their hard work organising team and finance matters, throughout the season.

Third Team News

At the Vets team AGM, held at the clubhouse on Tuesday 15th July, the following decisions were made about the forthcoming season:
Wilfy Wilson has decided to pursue other interests, a special thanks to Wilfy for all his efforts during the past few years, hopefully we will see him at a few games next season (his Norman Wisdom impression will be missed).
Laurie Simmonds has decided to continue as team manager & Treasurer. His assistants will continue to be Gary Collinson and Tim Delaney.
Richard Doyle will continue to be London Commercial League Secretary for Northwood FC, ably assisted by Billy Toland (as in previous years).
We still will need help throughout the season on a week to week basis. Match day jobs like collecting subs, putting corner flags out, water bottles etc… will be shared out equally amongst players throughout the season.
At present we are waiting the new London Commercial League constitution for next season 2010/2011. All the latest developments can be found on the website www.northwoodfc.com  (Third team page).
The first league games in the London Commercial League are scheduled for Saturday 18th September, therefore all players should have completed a signing-on form by Saturday 11th September to be eligible to play in the first league game.


Training

Pre-Season training will be every Thursday evening at the club, starting on Thursday 29th July 2010, 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start. Clubhouse facilities (showers and bar) are available each week. We will continue at the club until the Eastcote Hockey Club astroturf booking commences (mid September), the start date is yet to be confirmed.
The Astroturf booking will be every Monday night throughout the Winter months, the time slot will be 7.30 to 8.30pm each week, as previous years.
New players are always welcome at training, £4 payable on the night.


Season 2010/11 Finances

At the Thirds team AGM it was decided that this seasons “signing-on” fee will be kept at £50.00 per player. We will also need to collect subs per game, it was decided the match fees are to remain at £6.00 per game at present, whilst reviewing the finances, with the view to increasing subs if needed.

Please let Laurie or Tim Delaney have your signing-on fee a.s.a.p. or speak to them about paying in instalments, if you prefer.

Any fines for bookings or sending-offs are the responsibility of the player involved, these must be paid as soon as they are due to the Middlesex F.A.

Season 2010/11 Kick-off

We have a few pre-season friendlies being arranged at present. Details will be available at training. It is hope to start playing these in late August. Please advise the manager of any impending holiday commitments. The London Commercial League campaign starts on Saturday 18th September.
