The Woods continued their impressive pre-season form with a dominant performance at Spartan South Midlands side Leverstock Green which ended in a comprehensive 10-0 victory. With the League season still two weeks away, the Northwood management will be pleased with their squad's progress but will also be hoping to convince a few of the current impressive triallists to commit to the club.

Pat Adamson was prominent early on and had seen one effort cleared off the line before being set up to slot in the opening goal after 17 minutes. A penalty just two minutes later enabled a Triallist to double that lead and then the same player added a third after just 25 minutes.

Three minutes later Jamie Doolan's strike took a deflection to wrong foot the 'keeper for a fourth but the Woods midfielder would have been even happier with his second goal which dropped in the top corner from 35 yards.

The home side, who start their season with an FA Cup tie at Edgware Town next Saturday, had rested some of their more established players in the first half but they came on for the second period. These included former Woods striker Dave Lawrence. And they did have an effect, although Harry Newman netted a sixth Northwood goal ten minutes into the second half.

Levy had kept it to that score for a long period, without really threatening Raven Constable in the Northwood goal but there was more to come in the final fifteen minutes. The introduction of fresh legs made a difference with Jack McDonnell setting up Ryan Debattista for the seventh, scoring with a crisp strike from 20 yards. Then McDonnell was tripped in the box and Newman knocked in the spot-kick.

McDonnell was wrestled to the ground again soon after and was allowed to take the penalty himself, slotting home the ninth goal, while Newman completed his second-half hat-trick when converting a McDonnell cross.

Two more pre-season games to come this week, this time against sides who compete at the same level as Northwood. It's away to Molesey on Tuesday night followed by a home fixture against Brentwood Town next Saturday afternoon.
