Three points for Woods on the road
A 20 yard curled effort from Rob Ursell - back home to play for England Futsal side this week - three minutes before half-time proved to be Northwood's match winner in today's Evo-Stik Southern League Central Division fixture away to Daventry Town.
The 1-0 win brought three well-merited points and the double over Daventry - who beat Woods 4-1 and 6-0 last season - but the Woods had to defend tenaciously in the closing stages before the referee's whistle brought a close to proceedings. The victory left Gary Meakin's team in sixth place in the table.

Woods edge out Ashford
A strong second half performance won the Evo-Stik Southern League points for Northwood this afternoon, when they ran out 2-1 winners over Ashford Town at Northwood Park. The visitors just about edged the first half and led at the break through Dan Brown's 31st minute strike.
Woods' upped their game in the second period, and levelled within six minutes of the restart through leading scorer Oliver Hawkins. Then with 18 minutes left on the clock Craig White was on hand to fire home the winner from close range, and clinch Northwood's first victory of 2012.

Keeper signs; Harefield change
Gary Meakin has added to his squad with the signing of 21-year-old goalkeeper James Reading from Burnham. James came through the youth ranks at Wycombe Wanderers to become a regular in their reserve side and then joined Hendon on his release, making over 60 appearances for the Ryman Premier side. He will provide competition to Mitch Swain for the number one jersey.
Meaks said: "The signing of James adds to the squad, and providing competition is important. I will continue to try and strengthen the group as I see fit."

Woods concede late leveller
Northwood let two points slip this afternoon when Chalfont St Peter snatched an equaliser in the fifth minute of stoppage time in our Evo-Stik Southern League fixture at Mill Meadow.
The Woods dominated the first half and should have had the game sewn up when they led at the break through goals from Jonathan Constant and Romaine Walker. Chalfont pulled one back ten minutes after the restart, but the turning point came on 65 minutes. Walker was brought crashing down ten yards out and although the penalty was awarded, and scored by Constant, the offending defender was amazingly allowed to stay on the pitch despite it clearly being a red card offence.
Chalfont quickly scored a second, but the points were still heading to Chestnut Avenue as stoppage time approached. Then the referee did manage to find his red card to dismiss Woods skipper Romayne Marsh-Brown for dissent following a couple more bad decisions. And to rub salt into the wound, the home side then managed to level the scores on 95th minutes, to complete an eventful game.

Northwood crash out of cup
The Woods were hit for six by Premier Division Chesham United in tonight's Red Insure Southern League Cup third round tie at Amy Lane.
Northwood trailed by two goals at the break, but, perhaps suffering from resting a few players, they conceded four more in the second period.
Chesham goalscorers were Wales 2, Archer 2, Potton and Wadkins.

Woods slump to Brook
Northwood's disappointing start to 2012 continued this afternoon when they slumped to 2-1 home defeat in the Evo-Stik Southern League Central Division local derby at Chestnut Avenue against a physical afc Hayes outfit.
The visitors started strongly, and it was no surprise when they took a 19th minute lead, but Gary Meakin's side battled back into contention. If Brook had edged the opening period, Woods were generally on top after the break, although it took until the 83rd minute before Garry Senior rounded off a fine move to level.
Northwood looked the favourites to go on to win in the closing stages, but instead Hayes' leading scorer Matt Woods fired home the crucial strike to claim the points.

Important derby looms
The Woods' players and supporters are keenly looking forward to this Saturday's Evo-Stik Southern League Central Division local derby against afc Hayes at Northwood Park.
Last season was pretty much a disaster for both clubs, who ended the campaign in 19th and 20th positions, but both are going well this time around, and go into Saturday's encounter level on 39 points from 24 points with Northwood just edging into fifth on goal difference.
Northwood chairman Ian Barry commented: "If you had said at the start of the season that we would be seeing fifth playing sixth on Saturday, I know both clubs would have taken that, and it shows how far both have come in a short time. It should be a good, attacking game and one I’m looking forward to."

Northwood & Greenford share the points
Today's Evo-Stik Southern League derby was full of talking points - sadly, mainly revolving around referee Chris O'Donnell - and the points were ultimately shared with North Greenford at Northwood Park.
It took a 94th minute equalising goal from substitute Kurt Morlese to give Northwood a share of the spoils, but Woods were robbed of a legitimate goal far earlier - they had the ball in the net just before the break but the man in black bizarrely awarded a penalty instead, which Garry Senior proceeded to miss.
North Greenford's goal on 57 minutes from Ricky Pither represented their only shot on target in the entire 90 minutes - and even that should have been ruled out for offside! Despite dropping two valuable points, the Woods retained their fifth place in the Central Division.
