Woods held to FA Cup draw
Northwood and old Ryman League rivals Wingate & Finchley had a tough ninety minute battle in this afternoon's F.A. Challenge Cup preliminary round tie at Summers Lane.
However, despite chances at both ends, the two goalkeepers played well to keep the scoresheet blank, and the sides will replay at Northwood Park on Tuesday evening, kick-off 7.45 p.m.
Woods' reserves went down 0-4 at home to Woking in the Suburban League.

After all the news of Northwood being drawn away in cup competitions, we finally have a home Middlesex draw. Three, in fact!
Having re-entered the Middlesex Senior Charity Cup again this year after not competing last season, Woods have been drawn at home to Bedfont Town in the First Round. The winners of that tie will travel to Harrow Borough or Hillingdon Borough in the quarter-final.
The draw for the Middlesex Premier Cup second round sees Northwood reserves entertain Hanworth Villa. And the third team, promoted this year from the Middlesex Junior Trophy to the Middlesex Junior Cup - which the first team won way back in 1938 - and are drawn at home to Hounslow Wanderers or Inter Markfield in round two.

The long-serving Alan Evans, who has now clocked up 23 years' service to Northwood FC, was elected as a Life Vice-President of the club at tonight's Annual General Meeting in the clubhouse.
Four new committee members were elected at the meeting, during which Chairman Ian Barry reflected on the good progress that had been made by the club over the past twelve months, and he looked forward to seeing that continue in the forthcoming year.
The Woods are still seeking to fill the roles of Press Officer, Social Secretary and Commercial Manager, and any enquiries would be very welcome - please email or speak to any club official at the next home game.

The club's remarkable lack of luck in the various cup draws continued this week. Having been given away ties in the FA Cup, FA Trophy, Middlesex Senior Cup and FA Youth Cup, this week the draw for the Middlesex Senior County Youth Cup was released. And it was no surprise to learn that Northwood have been drawn away in the second round to the winners of the only first round tie, between Ashford Town (Middx) and Harrow Borough, with the game expected to be played in November.
The Ryman Youth League Western Division fixtures for the new season are yet to be released, so the first competitive game for the young Woods will be the FA Youth Cup game on Wednesday week, 8th September, at North Greenford United.

A magnificent headed goal from substitute Rodney Hicks gave the Woods all three points from this afternoon's Zamaretto League game away to Beaconsfield Sycob.
A close-fought encounter saw chances at both ends, and Mitch Swain was unbeatable in the Woods' goal as his side kept their first clean sheet of the season.

Ryan Lee hit a hat-trick as the Northwood second string hammered Metropolitan Police 5-0 at Chestnut Avenue in their first Suburban League outing of the season. Douglas Kisuule and Daryl Campbell-Grimshaw were also on the mark.

A solitary goal nine minutes into the second half cost Northwood the game at Hitchin Town last night. Mark Barnham's battling young side performed particularly impressively in the opening 45 minutes, and were unlucky not to take the lead when a Dean Wallace effort struck a post.
But a difficult opening to the second period saw Callam Donnelly net what proved to be the winner in the 54th minute. Woods' task was made more difficult following the dismissal of livewire striker Scott Orphanou for a second yellow card, but nevertheless there was plenty in the night's showing to encourage the Northwood supporters - and players as they prepare for Saturday's trip to Beaconsfield.

The Woods' Under 18s drew 2-2 with Willesden Constantine in a pre-season friendly yesterday, Romaine Walker scoring both goals.
Northwood will play away to North Greenford United in the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday 8th September, kick-off 7.30p.m.
The side will play in the Ryman Youth League West Division this season, and their opposing coubs will be: Ashford Town (Middx),
Hampton & Richmond Borough,
Hayes & Yeading United and
Staines Town, so it promises to be a good quality competition. Fixtures will be released shortly.

Scott Orphanou blasted a hat-trick as the Woods had a great start to their Zamaretto League season this afternoon, and Bedfont Town ended up on the end of a 5-2 defeat at Northwood Park, in a match played at times in very heavy rain - and it's not often that a Saturday afternoon game in August requires floodlights!
Northwood got off to a great start, Orphanou giving them a third minute lead, and Ryan Tackley blasted in the second just four minutes later. Debutant Scott Raper headed home number three in the 37th minute.
Scott Orphanou put Woods four up five minutes into the second period, and although former Wood Fergus Moore headed in for Bedfont in the 56th minute, Scott completed a superb hat-trick after 73 minutes. The visitors added a second goal in stoppage time, but Mark Barnham's team ran out deserved winners.

Winners of Sponsors Draw are announced
The club were delighted with the response of local businesses when they launched the Main Sponsors Draw in the summer.
Each Company paid a contribution towards club funds to be included in a draw from which four of those companies would be rewarded with first-team shirt sponsorship, perimeter boards around the ground and some match-day sponsorships as well as season tickets and links from the club's website at www.northwoodfc.com
The draw was made independently by the Match Officials at a recent pre-season friendly and the four lucky winners were:
1st Prize: Iver Recycling - Station Approach, Oldfield Lane North, Greenford
2nd Prize: Northwood Eye Centre - 34 Green Lane, Northwood
3rd Prize: Flegg Transport Services - Breakspear Road South, Ickenham
4th Prize: Ruislip Windows & Doors - 218 Field End Road, Eastcote
These are the names that supporters will see on our shirts this season. Indeed, the home shirts made their debut against Hendon in Tuesday night's friendly. However, everyone who entered must be thanked and the club urge everyone connected with Northwood FC to support these companies whenever possible as without them the draw could not have been a success. The Club hope that this will be repeated next season with more companies added to make the scheme even more successful.
There is an advert in the matchday magazine for each of our entrants, and there will also be a patrons' page on the website listing these companies with a link to their own websites where available.
The other entrants were:

Pick up a Matchday Magazine
The new season is here, and for the first home game of the campaign against Bedfont Town the club has produced arguably the best quality Matchday Magazine yet.
The club's official publication has a completely new look, and having moved to new printers this summer, we are delighted with the result! All the popular features are still there, including the views of manager Mark Barnham and the forthright comments of chairman Ian Barry - and much more!
So make sure that tomorrow you pick up your copy of the full colour 40-page Matchday Magazine, still costing £2, and available from the clubhouse bar and at the turnstile.

Several players has returned to the club, including Mark Burgess, Rodney Hicks and Lee Holland, whilst the new signings include Scott Raper, Murray Williamson, Dean Wallace, Wayne Jackson, Troy Roach and Andrew Iwediuno.

Wins for reserves and Under 18s
Northwood's reserve squad continued their impressive build-up to the Suburban Premier season last night when they won 6-0 at Herts County Leaguers Mill End Sports. Amongst the goalscorers were Douglas Kisuule, Terngu Agera 2 and Ricky Rogers.
And the Under 18s had their second friendly fixture in advance of the start of their Ryman Youth League season last night. Woods go down in final friendly
Two first half goals were sufficient for Ryman Premier outfit Hendon to take honours from Northwood's final pre-season friendly last night. Glenn Garner put the Greens ahead in the 19th minute, and that was followed by an unfortunate own goal on the half-hour.
With many changes after the interval, the Woods showed plenty of promise, and should have pulled a goal back, but Scott Orphanou saw his penalty well saved by keeper Berkley Laurencin.

Woods hit for four
Northwood had a poor afternoon down towards the South coast, as they went down 4-1 at AFC Totton in their penultimate pre-season friendly.
Totton, last season's Zamaretto League South & West Division runners-up who lost in the play-offs, led 3-1 at the break, and added a further goal in the second half. John Christian was the only scorer for Mark Barnham's side.

The club is asking for volunteers to come down to the ground from 10.00 a.m. on Tuesday, 10th August, to join manager Mark Barnham and other members of his management team for a final tidy-up of the ground - ahead of the big kick-off next Saturday.
All help will be much appreciated, and if you can bring some gardening tools, brushes, brooms, and paint brushes, that would be good.
Thanks to all that can assist!!

Another win for reserves
Mark Adams' reserve side maintained their excellent pre-season form last night with a 1-0 victory over North Greenford United, in a match played at the British Airways Concorde Club. The Woods dominated for much of the game but were unable to turn their superiority into goals until the final stages when Douglas Kisuule buried a shot from ten yards.
Kisuule had also been on target in a 4-1 victory at Met. Police (Bushey) on Tuesday night, along with a Max Moore strike and two goals from Chris Moore.
The side now play against Rayners Lane this coming Saturday and follow that with games at Mill End Sports next Wednesday evening and then British Airways the following Saturday, before starting their Suburban League Premier campaign at home to Metropolitan Police on Saturday 21st August.

Club seeks Press Officer and P.A. announcer
Northwood F.C. are seeking to appoint a new Press Officer, as long-serving incumbent Robin Piper stood down from the post at the end of last season.
The voluntary role is a varied one, and can include a number of facets, in accordance with the applicant's wishes. This would include reporting on first team matches for various newspapers and the club website and matchday magazine, and generally promoting the club wherever and whenever possible.
Robin Piper also manned the P.A. system at home games, but that job could be operated as a separate role.
If you are interested in helping the club in this way, please email your details etc to firstname.lastname@example.org.
